Question on 4.3.0, problem with Tray Icon [Feb. 15th, 2004|05:45 pm]

I'm running Mdk 9.2 with KDE for my GUI. I have no serious problems with logjam, except for this: the tray icon tends to vanish after having it running for awhile. There doesn't seem to be any specific action that causes this; the tray icon just eventually disappears.

Is that because I'm using KDE and not Gnome? Or is there some small bug, or perhaps something I'm doing wrong.

Other than that, it works great.

Re: Question on 4.3.0, problem with Tray Icon

I've had the same problem, running KDE 3.1.x on Debian Sid. However, I've not noticed the problem since I upgraded to KDE 3.2

The only other tray icon behaviour I miss is having it change image to reflect that there are updates on my friends list. I'm finding that setting a window to raise to the front doesn't appear to work (ie, it never raises).

Other than that, no problems so far :)

Re: Question on 4.3.0, problem with Tray Icon

i was planning to wait a bit longer on 3.2, isn't it still RC2? Besides, I just got this stinking *nix box working, and I don't want to much with it again. I tend to tinker and break things.

Re: Question on 4.3.0, problem with Tray Icon

KDE 3.2 went on release a couple of weeks ago, or so. Admitedly it's not made it into Debian unstable yet, but it's available from experimental (of course, you're running Mandrake, so you could just fetch the rpms, or I think there's an update script which does all that for you).

IKWYM about tinkering - sometimes I spend more time tinkering than actually getting stuff done ;-)
