Friends [Jan. 3rd, 2004|03:20 pm]

I just discovered the wonder that is Logjam's friends management page.  This is SWEET.  And to think I slogged along until now with that bletcherous friends-mismanagement page in the web interface....

I actually don't like the groups interface on logjam. Nor do I like the idea that it does the updates interactively, instead of in a batch commit style. Too many of us are stuck on cranky 56k lines for that. Now, the main friends page is way cool, what with the relationships thingy and the stats and whatnot. (Still don't like the insty-add thingy.... half the time when I make changes, it's two or three things at a time, and I'd rather do changety-changety-changety-COMMIT... and it wouldn't bother me to go hit "do it" at the end...

But, yeah, I like Logjam in general. What I wish they'd add is something where you could post comments as well... 'cause I hate using the web interface for comments when I've got this nice cool thingy for doing main posts...

Yeah, a commenter would be nice. It's a more complex problem than posting, though.

Hum. I don't think I want to go *that* far just yet. What I'd like to do is give it a URL (like the one you get when you get emailed a reply) and get a (local!) form with subject, picture, text boxes which would submit a reply...

Haven't looked at the protocol enough to know whether there's an XML-based reply mechanism or not. If not you could feed the CGI, but that's probably clunky. Just a thought.

there isn't one.

(dunno if you knew this, but i work/worked for lj, so i'm pretty familiar with what is and isn't there. and i also know that bradfitz would cry if i fed the cgi. :P)

oh, and batch updates would be cool. will consider it.

(btw, you should bring these up at the toplevel or we'll never even know about it!)
