logjam for windows 4.2.3 [Aug. 8th, 2003|07:31 pm]

LogJam for Windows 4.2.3 binaries are up, with a graphical installer too.

It looks like there might be some bug in the offline sync, and I couldn’t get RSVG working on Windows, so I may make another release later if I fix those.

Really, working on this old code is boring, and working on Windows is frustrating. I’d love for someone else to take over LogJam for Windows, fixing platform-specific bugs and handling releases. It’s a shame the guy who does Gaim for Windows doesn’t use LJ. :P

you only get the message if you're writing in non-ascii. so if you were writing pure ascii english, it wouldn't be an issue.

and yeah, what a waste, supporting all those people who can't be bothered to learn english.

ASCII only defines characters for 0-127: http://www.jimprice.com/jim-asc.htm
Extended ASCII was common in the DOS days, but it's likely your non-ASCII characters were from some other codeset. If you're on Windows, it was probably Windows-1252.

acpizza: What was wrong with using the high ASCII (128-255 dec) for all the letters with extra squiggles and dots and such?

Also, that doesn't cover the thousands of pictograms, cyrillic characters, and just strange things used in languages across the world.
