Re: build error

Pat had that same problem.
I think it worked once he did a make clean followed by a ./autogen.sh.

You may also want to cvs update again (and then do the above steps), because I broke everything for a few seconds...

Re: build error

VERSION should be defined in config.h (in the root of the source tree)... if it isn't, then autoconf broke somehow...

If corvar's suggestion doesn't fix it, can you dump your config.h?

Re: build error

No idea. autoconf is still a mystery to me. :\

Re: build error

I suggest the book "GNU Autoconf, Automake, and Libtool" by Vaughan, Elliston, Tromey, and Taylor. It demystified a lot of the auto* tools for me (although I still don't have a firm grasp). It's available in Debian as the "autobook" package, or from bookstores.

Re: build error

I have been having that as well. But if you do another ./autogen.sh;./configure it clears itself up.

I figured my shell script to checkout clean from CVS and build was broke and was too lazy to look at it ;)

Did you run autogen.sh followed by configure?

It's not the CVS version, I was compiling from source. (loserjabber-2.1.4.tar.gz)
