Proxy support? [Jan. 23rd, 2007|02:52 pm]

Just curious to know if proxy support has been addressed for LogJam. If not, I wouldn't mind taking a crack at it, as long as someone reviewed my code before it was submitted.

IIRC we use curl for networking, so if you put set http_proxy to point at your proxy in the environment it should Just Work.

Hmmm... I tried that, but it didn't work. Let me putz with it a bit.

Thanks!

I think it should also show up in the settings under "network" or "system".

LogJam -> Preferences -> System -> Proxy. i was using it for a while to proxy LogJam through Squid (along with all my other web access, since we were on dialup and needed to tight-fist every last byte we could re-use), and can attest that it works.

Hm, how could squid help? None of the requests LogJam makes should be cacheable...

Well, it doesn't really help LogJam. But at the time, I just set it up that way the same time as I set everything else up to use it, without stopping to consider whether there was actually any point in doing so.

However, doing so led me to discover the Synchronize/squid issue mentioned below, so it was worth it (even if I didn't make the connection until today).

I will note, by the way, that "Synchronize Offline Copy" does NOT work via a Squid proxy. I suspect this is a failure of squid, not of LogJam.
