Support for other Media Players? [Feb. 13th, 2006|03:37 pm]
LogJam

logjam

[angrykeyboarder]
Based on what I've read, LogJam only supports XMMS and BMPX.

I'm one of a rare breed who is not fond of a software reproduction of a home stereo amplifer at 1/1000 scale. :-) They're just too tiny to be usable. Maybe it's an eyesight thing. Plus the fact that I like my desktop GUI theme to be consistant.

Not to mention no one has (to my knowledge) matched the features of my favorite audio player which is amaroK.

So in my typical long-winded fashion, I'm asking for amaroK support.

Rhythmbox, Banshee and Quod Libet would be nice too. :-)

Thanks.

logjam 4.5.3 seems to support amarok fine. maybe you need different compile options?

yup, and rhythmnbox is there too

I had amaroK working with older versions too, using dcop and the 'custom command' option

logjam's rhythmbox plugin doesn't seem to pull Artist tags for me, though, just titles..oh well.

I use a custom script written in Perl to handle xmms and DigitalDJ interchangeable. There's always a way.

you can run arbitrary commands. that's how the xmms/bmpx stuff is implemented. i use MPD.

It's been in the menu since 4.5.2, but as the parent post observes, it's easy to add by using "Custom".

With rhythmbox, it only seems to get the track name, not the artist name. Is there a nice way around this? I'm using the Ubuntu release, so apologies if it's in a newer version.

Does anyone know any scripts/commands that will make this work with Quod Libet on Ubuntu Dapper?
